Meet your photographer

I’m Joseph, photographer, local guide, and calm person in your corner.

After years of photographing weddings around the world and hundreds of proposals locally, I know how to make this experience feel simple, even when a lot is happening behind the scenes.

From helping you choose a spot to coordinating the exact moment, I keep things smooth, discreet, and natural. If you already know you love a place like Baker Beach or Sutro Baths, great. If not, I’ll help you get there.

How it works

A simple process, even if you’re nervous

1

Choose the vibe

Already know the location, or still deciding? I’ll help you narrow it down based on privacy, scenery, timing, weather, and the feeling you want the moment to have.

2

Build the plan

We figure out the exact approach, parking, route, positioning, and the cleanest way to make it all feel natural. This is where the stress usually disappears.

3

Make it happen

I blend in, we coordinate quietly, and your proposal gets captured beautifully without making the moment feel staged.

Featured location

Baker Beach

Without a doubt, Baker Beach is one of the most photographed proposal locations in San Francisco, and for good reason. It gives you that instantly recognizable Golden Gate Bridge backdrop, open sky, soft sand, and enough room to make the moment feel cinematic without feeling forced.

It works especially well for people who want something iconic, emotional, and surprisingly flexible. Morning light is often the sweetest here, the beach can feel more private than people expect, and there is enough visual variety nearby for beautiful portraits right after the proposal.

San Francisco proposal FAQ

A few common questions before you plan the moment

Quick answers about locations, weather, privacy, timing, pets, and package choices.

What are the best proposal locations in San Francisco?
The best proposal location depends on what matters most to you, iconic views, privacy, easier logistics, cleaner backgrounds, or a more hidden and intimate feel. Some couples want the Golden Gate Bridge, some want a beach, some want forest vibes, and some want a quiet city spot. We can help you choose a location based on scenery, crowds, weather patterns, parking, walking distance, and how discreet the setup needs to be.
What is the best time to propose in San Francisco?
There is no one perfect time for every location. The best timing depends on the season, weather, fog patterns, crowd levels, and the specific look you want. Some locations feel more private in the morning, while others are better later in the day. Places with epic sunset potential can also become foggy or crowded, depending on the time of year. We usually talk through the options and choose the time with the best balance of beauty, privacy, and lower risk.
Is it better to propose on a weekday or a weekend?
If you can do a weekday, it is often easier. Many San Francisco proposal locations feel more private and relaxed on weekdays because there are fewer people around. That said, weekends can still work very well. There are hidden spots, quieter corners, and certain time windows when even popular locations feel surprisingly calm. The key is choosing the right place and the right timing.
What happens if it rains or gets foggy?
San Francisco weather changes quickly, so flexibility is important. If rain or fog becomes an issue, we can often adjust the timing, switch to a better backup location, or choose a plan that works better for the conditions. Fog is not always a problem, sometimes it creates a beautiful mood, but if weather starts increasing the risk too much, we can talk through alternatives and make the smartest call.
Can you help me choose the location and timing based on weather and crowd levels?
Yes. This is a big part of what we do. The same location can feel completely different depending on the hour, the season, and whether it is a weekday or weekend. We can discuss which spots tend to be foggier, which ones get crowded faster, which locations are easier for privacy, and whether morning, afternoon, or evening gives you the best chance of a smooth experience.
What is included in the basic package compared to the deluxe package?
In general, the Basic package is more focused on capturing the proposal itself, while the Deluxe package gives you more coverage and room for portraits after the proposal. If you are choosing between them, we can help you decide based on how important the post-proposal photo session is and how much flexibility you want in the overall experience.
Can I bring my dog to the proposal?
Absolutely. A dog can be a beautiful part of the proposal. Some locations are more dog friendly than others, especially beach and park settings. The best plan depends on your dog’s personality, energy level, and discipline. In some cases it makes sense to choose a more secluded spot or have a friend help manage the dog before or after the proposal.
Can I have family or friends hidden nearby as a surprise?
Yes. There are many locations where family or friends can stay hidden and then come out right after the proposal, or even watch discreetly from a distance. The best setup depends on the location, the number of people, and whether you want them to appear during the moment or immediately after.
How do we keep the proposal discreet and still recognize each other?
We keep the process simple and discreet. We usually agree on a clear meeting strategy, use live location if needed, and go over where to stand and how to approach the spot without making the surprise obvious. The goal is to keep everything natural while still giving us the best chance to photograph the moment cleanly and without confusion.
How far in advance should I book my proposal photographer?
The earlier, the better, especially if you are aiming for a popular date, a weekend, or a location that needs more planning. But last minute proposals can absolutely work too. If your proposal is coming up soon, reach out anyway. Sometimes we can still make it happen with a simple and smart plan.
What should we wear for a proposal photo session?
Wear something that feels like you, but keep the location in mind. Heels, beach sand, long walks, wind, and colder temperatures can all affect comfort and movement. If you want the proposal to feel natural and still photograph beautifully, I’m happy to guide you on what tends to work best for the specific location you choose.
