I’ve been wanting to photograph a proposal at Filoli for a long time, and I finally had the chance. This place is just magical. It’s a garden in Woodside that you can actually reserve before it opens to the public, giving you a completely private and peaceful experience. You get a whole section of the garden to yourself, surrounded by flowers, fountains, and quiet beauty.
As a photographer, I can tell you there are other places that look similar, but nothing quite compares to having this kind of privacy and natural backdrop. You don’t need to decorate anything, it’s already perfect.
Here’s a moment from the actual proposal. You can see how beautiful and emotional it was. If your partner would appreciate a stunning background and a sense of intimacy, Filoli is definitely a place to consider.
If you’d like to hear more about Filoli or other locations that don’t require a reservation, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to share ideas.
And personally, I really loved meeting this couple, hearing how they met, how they grew close, and how love brought them to this moment. Stories like this always touch me and remind me why I love photographing proposals, they fill my day with joy and meaning.
